Sorting

Introduction: High speed sorting has become a growth industry around the world as more and more emphasis is placed on recycling. Air valves are used in the sorting process to control jets of air which separate out good items from bad.

Application: A stream of material on a conveyor comes to a sorter spanning the width of the belt. The product passes first through a sensing device that determines the nature or properties of objects and then over a discharging system, which uses precise pulses of compressed air to separate the desirable objects from the undesirable.

Materials Sorted: Seeds, nuts, berries, beans, olives, grains, rice, carrots, tomatoes, mushrooms, herbs, plastic, metal scrap, coins, glass, and stones.

Problem: OEM-supplied air valves are prone to sticking and inconsistent response due to contamination build-up and variations in inlet pressure. The sorting of smaller parts without malfunction can be a challenge.

Mac Valve Advantages: MAC Valves offers narrow widths for tighter spacing, higher shifting forces to combat effects of contamination, more air flow, immune to pressure fluctuations, longer life, customized manifolds, and easier changeout of valves.
